Family therapy consists of family members jointly attending session to resolve a family situation. Family therapy sessions are designed to help resolve family concerns, enhance communication, provide tools to assist with conflicts between parent and children, or the impact of substance abuse or mental illness on the entire family. In this session the therapist explores the family ability to solve problems and express thoughts and emotions in a nonconfrontational manner. The therapist also examines what the roles are in the family, rules, behavior patterns and identifies the family’s strengthens and or weaknesses.
