Stigmas about Therapy

  • You must be sick or disturbed if you are seeing a therapist.
  • You don’t need to tell anybody your personal business just pray about it to your higher power.
  • Why do I need to pay someone to tell me what I already know?

2001

After my divorce of which I gained two amazing children, a handsome son and beautiful daughter I remarried. My now husband of 18 years is a great husband and father to our two amazing sons. In marriage there may be challenges and we have had our share but we both agreed we would work at improving the matters of our hearts daily.

2008

Well in 2008, at age 40 I joined the Army Reserves. The goal in doing so was to do something I always wanted to do to serve and protect my homeland and the safety of others and to gain the benefit of having my college expenses paid. In this experience some of what I learned was the importance of relationships, teamwork, diversity, punctuality, goals and fitness. All of which are skills I use as a therapist.

2015

I began going to school part-time while serving in the Army, however I enrolled as a full-time student in 2015. In my academic journey I was taught by professors that had doctorial degree that stressed the importance of the lives of those I would now serve. Some of the lectures were on social needs, mental health, cultural competency, client rights, individual and group counsel, substance abuse, domestic violence, laws, licensure governing guidelines, advocacy, appropriate and non-appropriate client responses and self-care. Graduated with the highest social work GPA while completing my BSW degree. I continued my educational journey and received my Master of Social Work degree in 2019. I am also licensed as a Clinical Social Worker Associates and a Licensed Clinical Addictions Specialist. My education along with life emotional challenges define my character and a therapist you can trust.
